Wash the bottles, pipettes, collars and bulbs before filling: warm water with a mild detergent, rinse well, then sterilise (a 70% isopropyl-alcohol rinse, or hot water for the glass parts; do not boil the rubber bulbs) and air-dry fully, necks down. Never fill a damp bottle. Borosilicate glass can be boiled or autoclaved.
