Frequently Asked Questions
-
A 100ml or 120ml glass bottle with a pump for oils used a few pumps at a time, or a screw cap with an inner plug for oils poured into the palm. Glass does not absorb the oil or its fragrance, and amber or black glass shields herbal infusions from light. Coconut-based oils set below about 24°C, and a pump cannot draw a solid — for those choose the plug cap, or tell customers to warm the bottle in their hands.
-
100ml is the standard retail size and 120ml the generous one; 150ml is the largest we carry in glass. At the usual two to three applications a week, a 100ml bottle is typically six to eight weeks of use, the repurchase cycle most brands plan around. 40ml and 50ml suit scalp serums, travel packs and gift sets. For 200ml and above, glass gets heavy to post — that is where brands move to a refill pouch or pack.
-
The pump for a measured dose without mess; the screw cap with inner plug for oils poured into the palm or used in a champi; the dropper for scalp serums applied along the parting. Pumps come in black or white plastic, or gold, silver and black metal for a premium line. The plug cap is also the safest choice for thick or setting oils, and it is what the traditional Ayurvedic hair-oil bottle uses.
-
Glass, for anything sold as premium, herbal or Ayurvedic. It is inert, so the oil never picks up a plastic taste or leaches anything from the bottle, it does not stain or cloud from infused herbs, it washes for refills, and it is recyclable. Plastic is lighter and cheaper to ship, and it is the only option for squeeze applicators. RENTRASPA sells glass only, so the trade-off is weight in the parcel, which the pricing on this page reflects.
-
No — comb and nozzle applicator bottles are plastic squeeze bottles, and we work in glass only. The glass equivalents are the dropper bottle for parting the hair and applying oil straight to the scalp, the pump for a measured dose into the palm, and the screw cap with a flow-control plug for a slow pour. Many brands pair a glass retail bottle with a plastic applicator refill for the salon or home kit.
-
Amber or black for herbal and Ayurvedic oils; clear for oils sold on their colour. Infused oils — bhringraj, amla, hibiscus, curry leaf — fade and oxidise under UV, and amber filters most of it while black blocks nearly all. Green and blue filter part of the light and are chosen for the look. Clear glass shows a golden almond or sesame oil beautifully but protects it least, so use it for stable oils or products sold in a carton.
-
Yes — every bottle on this page ships complete with its closure: the pump with its cap, or the screw cap with its inner plug. The plain round bottles in amber, frosted amber, clear, green, blue and black take the standard 18mm neck, so plastic and metal pumps interchange on them. The designer bottles (the C-number in the title) come with their own matched cap or pump, matching that family's jars and serum bottles.
-
They ship straight from the factory cartons, not pre-washed or sterilised — wash bottles, pumps, plugs and caps in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse, sterilise (a 70% isopropyl-alcohol rinse or hot water for the glass) and air-dry fully. Let infused or heated oils cool to room temperature before filling — never pour hot oil into glass — fill to the shoulder leaving headspace for the pump tube or plug, then close and store cool and dark.
